Family Time In The New Zealand Back Country

A great couple of days hiking in the back country with the family. We are super lucky our kids enjoy tramping and both really get into the “hut life” side of things with helping prepare evening meals and lunches for the following day. Charlotte has become the undisputed Queen of Last Card and Snakes and Ladders and chats away to fellow trampers all night long about any thing and every thing lol ! Louie loves collecting wood and starting the hut fire each night and also enjoys chatting to others in the hut.

The weather played ball for the most part except for a little rain on the walk out late afternoon on the second day. The river was quite boisterous and tough to cross in places from the recent rains we have had. Many of the fish we encountered were sitting deep and quite tough to get a fly in front of. Numbers of fish were good but they were fairly well spread out through the section of river we fished on the first day with a reasonable amount of walking between each one.
